Butter, Detergent & more bad weather

Yesterday the weather was wonderful and the sun was shining all day, it wasn’t warm but still nice. In the morning all the Swedish wives were invited to Mia’s place for coffee. It was really nice as we have never met all together before, at least not the ones being here right now.

On the way home I had to go quickly to the store and get butter and detergent (not to be used together) but as usual it takes forever in the store. The butter I now know which one and where it is but the detergent and fabric softener I haven’t bought before so I had to through the entire variety. But I found out that liquid detergent is more expensive here than in Sweden.

I had promised Felicia that I would bake some oat cookies and realize once everything but one ingredient were mixed that I didn’t have that at home. I threw the bicarbonate away before moving as it had expired a year earlier (that’s how often I bake) so yesterday I had to use baking powder instead which worked fine. The taste was buttery even if I for a change actually took out the scale to get the right amount of butter.

In the evening Peter and I went to a reception at the NHQ Officer’s Mess held by the Canadians. Peter works together with some of the people at the reception but I could say hello to more people as I have met several of the wives. It was nice even if we didn’t know so many.

Today Emelie is coming and we are all looking forward to it and longing to see her. We keep our fingers crossed that the storm they say will hit UK is coming tonight or just don’t come. For the Brits in the south of England it would have been better if it doesn’t come, all these storms and rain has been hard and many people have had to leave their homes due to flooding. Even if it a lot of people that are affected this is a rich country and it doesn’t happen every year as it does in many poor countries. The prime minister have said that money is no problem but I guess he is talking about infrastructure and similar things, the question is if the house owners will get anything from the insurance companies (force majeure).
