Christmas Eve

It was Christmas Eve yesterday and even if it’s not celebrated here in UK we did as it is in Sweden. We did not much in the morning and after breakfast Felicia and I took a walk in the wonderful weather to Waitrose to get some more egg. My youngest had ordered scrambled eggs for breakfast and we had not enough for the evening. The weather was wonderful with sun and around 10 degrees C above zero.

Back home I started with food by taking it out from the fridge so that the salmon and ham wouldn’t be too cold when it was time to eat and I had to put the spare ribs in the oven. While waiting we played some board games and I think it is something we need to practice doing more with F. She gets extremely happy when she is doing better than the others and very upset when it doesn’t go as well 😉

We could make a small Christmas smorgasbord (even if I just realized I forgot to serve one of the dishes) and everyone was satisfied. We had more to eat than we needed and decided to have the rice pudding later and instead have “Santa” give the Christmas gifts. In Sweden Santa brings the gifts himself during the 24th and kids stands in the windows keeping lookout for him. Now we didn’t have any Santa delivering gifts this year but we still got gifts.

Everyone got things they really wished for and was happy about. Our kids are not hard to give gifts to as they are very appreciative and gets happy for everything they get. Afterwards we Skyped with our parents, or rather my parent because Peters dad couldn’t get his skype up and running so them we had to speak with over the phone. After the pudding we took out Trivial Pursuit that was bought in the mid 90’s and some of the questions are no longer accurate. I think we need to get a new one.

I will now start with the preparations for today’s British Christmas dinner and it will be turkey, roasted potatoes and vegetables. We will not have the Christmas pudding as no one likes dried fruit in cakes and we tried the mince pies and didn’t like them. I don’t want to buy a whole Christmas pudding and then throw it away.
