Richard II @ Globe Theatre

English

Today we had booked tickets to see a Shakespeare play at his theatre. Well, the theatre isn’t the original one but built after the original blueprints by an American actor who loved Shakespeare, they also play the same way as they did during the Shakespeare time.

The play we were watching was Richard II and I thought it might be a good idea to read the synopsis before as the English might be a little hard to understand sometimes. The tickets we bought were standing tickets just like many people did during his time and as they were cheap we said that we could leave earlier if we wanted. As I had read about the play before I understood it and so did Peter and Emelie. Felicia, our least cultural member of the family, didn’t appreciate it as much and thought we could leave after the first act as she didn’t understand it. That’s what happens when you don’t read about the plays as you been told by your mom. We stayed the whole performance and we regret that we didn’t get both standing tickets and seats because it was a long play. If we have had 2 seats and 2 standing, we could have switched in the break.

But it was a cool experience and I’m glad to have done it, we have passed the theatre so many times and I have been there on a guided tour but to see a play and be there as audience was really cool.
