Idag åkte jag, Colleen, Cindy och Andrea till IWM för att se utställningen men Lee Miller. Hon var fotomodell innan kriget men började så småningom arbeta tillsammans med en annan fotograf. Eftersom männen drog ut i krig fick hon möjlighet att bli krigskorrespondent och blev bland annat känd för sina fotografier från bland annat befrielse från koncentrationslägren.
Efter kriget gömdes fotografierna då Lee mådde dåligt av sina minnen och först när hennes son hittade dem i vuxen ålder på deras vind fick de nytt liv. Vi avslutade dagen med att äta lunch på en pub, den såg väldigt mysig ut från utsidan. Vi gick in och där var 2 andra gäster som tittade konstigt på oss, helt klart en lokal pub dit inte andra än lokalbor kommer. Vi beställde mat och eftersom hon som tog vår beställning hade svårt att dela notan beställde Colleen en cider och sa att hon betalade. Så kunde vi sen dela – vi blev något chockade när kvinnan sa £13. Lite oroliga också vad det var vi skulle få eftersom en cider och fyra måltider inte brukar kosta så lite, men vi blev glatt överraskade. Allt var ätligt och helt OK, även om det inte var en kulinarisk upplevelse.

Today I went to IWM together with Colleen, Cindy and Andrea to see the exhibition with Lee Miller. She was a model before the war but started to work together with another photographer behind the camera just before the war. As all the men was in the war she got the opportunity and became a war correspondent for the Vogue, she became famous for her photos from the liberation of the concentrations camps as well as photo of the London Blitz.
After the war the photos were put away as they haunted her and she became depressed, her son later found the pictures and they came back to life. After the exhibition we went for lunch, a pub that looked really nice from the outside. We went inside and there were 2 other guests who gave us a strange look, clearly a local pub who didn’t have other guests than the locals. We ordered our food but as we wanted to pay separately the lady behind the bar ran into trouble separating the cost. Colleen decided to pay for all of it and we could then pay her, she ordered her drink and it all came to £13. We were a bit worried as a half pint cider and 4 lunches normally don’t cost that little, we were positively surprised. Everything was eatable and OK, not a culinary experience but OK.
