Peter och jag tog en liten utflykt och åkte till Wendover som han fått rekommenderat. Resan dit tog bara 40 minuter och vi körde genom ett trevligt landskap men verkligen på landet. Vi hittade en parkeringsplats och började gå, och gick och gick men hittade inget som på något sätt fick oss att riktigt förstå varför detta skulle vara en så mysig by. Vi såg en massa vandrare som kom till parkeringen vid biblioteket och började undra om det var det som liksom var grejen med Wendover.
Vi fortsatte att promenera runt och tog en liten stig som skulle leda till kyrkan. Den gick längs med en å och kom fram till en väldigt fin kyrka – St Mary’s Church. Kyrkan är 700 år gammal och det finns en hel del historia med den, bland annat har Cromwells trupper härbärgerat där under engelska inbördeskriget (1642-1651).
När vi inte ville titta på kyrkan mer så gick vi till den lokala puben och åt lunch innan vi åkte vidare. Tanken var att vi skulle åka till Aylesbury då det är en gammal stad men den var så tråkig när vi körde igenom att vi körde vidare. Vi tog en annan väg hem och åkte förbi premiärministerns sommarställe – Chequers. Man såg inget men jag förstår varför man valt att lägga det där för det var en fantastisk natur.

Peter and I took a daytrip to Wendover after a recommendation. It took only 40 minutes to go there and we drove through nice landscapes but really on the countryside. We find a parking space and started to walk towards the centre of the village, and walked and walked but didn’t find anything that made us understand why anyone would recommend it. We saw a lot of hikers and started to think that hiking was the thing with Wendover.
We continued walking and found a footpath that would lead us to the church. The footpath went along a small stream and ended at a very beautiful church – St Mary’s Church. The church is 700 years old and there is a bit of history coming with it, one is that Cromwell’s troops camped there during the Civil War.
When we were done looking at the church we went to the local pub for some lunch before heading on. We wanted to go to Aylesbury as it is an old town but driving through it to find a parking space we found it to boring and left again. We took another route home and passed where the prime minister’s summer residence is – Chequers. You didn’t see anything but I do understand why they chose this spot as the landscape was amazing.
