Finally the coffee mornings are up and running again. Since I arrived in July we have had 3 due to the base following the recommendations for the pandemic.
Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway were supposed to have the coffee morning in February but as the base wasn’t open yet for larger gatherings we had to cancel. When they opened up for March the original country wasn’t prepared so we decided to do it.
Sweden served semlor, cinnamon rolls and Skagen. Semlor is buns filled with almond paste and whipped cream and the Skagen is a shrimp salad with mayonnaise, sour cream, dill and some red onion.
But we also ate salmon, reindeer, rye bread, marzipan cakes, sandwich cake and blueberry pie. I think we had a good mixture of sweet and savoury. We topped it off with a quiz about all the countries.
