As we were staying at a hotel in Miami we had breakfast fairly early and then headed towards Key West. As it was a federal holiday we choose to stay in Miami as the prices in Key West are always high but get even higher at times like this. It’s a 2,5 hour drive but we had hardly any traffic.
We went to see Hemingway’s house, the Key West Lighthouse, Sloppy Joe’s, the Little White house, the Mallory Square, Southernmost point of the Continental USA, Fat Tuesday and Smathers Beach.
On our way back to Miami in the evening we decided to stop at a brewery in Islamorada. We were hungry and didn’t know if they served food but stopped anyway. When walking in I see a woman who looks just like a former neighbor we had in San Diego. I know she lives up north and hadn’t seen anything on her FB that she was going to Florida. The others also thinks she is a spitting image.
I send her a message asking if she by any chance is in Florida. When I hit send she spots Peter and then me – what are the odds?? We weren’t even supposed to be in the area at this time. Well, it was really nice seeing her again.
