Hilary and Brian arrived in Tampa last week and have stayed with us for a week. Now they are heading home to Canada and the cold weather again.
First day Hil and I went to the Korean coffee morning and then we just relaxed in the afternoon. I had my volunteering at Service to Service in the evening and left them alone at home until Peter got home.
Thursday we drove over to St Pete and visited Museum of Fine Arts. They had an exhibition by the French sculptor Rodin, who is considered to be the founder of modern sculpture. They also have their regular exhibition. We then went for taco lunch before we headed over to the Sunken Garden which was lovely as usual. In the evening we drove over to Ybor and had a walk before we had dinner and beer at Coppertail Brewery.
Friday I had arranged a boat tour to St Pete together with our neighbours. But we had a stressful morning as we had a blockage in the downstair toilet and had to wait for the plumber to come and start fixing the problem. We arrived at the ferry in time and met Lynn, Renee and Lynne who was the only neighbours that could go. The tour takes 50 minutes and when we arrived in St Pete Hil and Brian walked over to the Dalí museum while we met up with Rebecca and walked over to have some ice cream. An hour later we took the ferry back and sadly couldn’t sit outside but had nice seatings inside. In the late afternoon Peter and I went over to St Pete to pick up our guests and then we headed to Cigar City Brewery before we went home to have dinner.
Saturday we took a walk along the Riverwalk which ended with some food at the Amature works. In the evening we had a Northwood reunion when Magda & Hubert (who live in Tampa right now) and Kicki and Sven (visiting Magda & Hubert) came over. We all lived in Northwood and spent time together there. We had a lovey evening and a lot of catching up.
Sunday we visited the Aquarium in down town Tampa. We have never been there and was really looking forward going there. It is well done and I would like to go back. We had lunch at Green Lemon (our favorite taco place) and in the evening some neighbours came over for drinks and suggestions for their Canada visit.
Last day was a lazy day and we spent it at home in the morning even if we didn’t have any water or toilets. The plumber was back to finally take care of the problem that we have had for more than a year. When lunch came around we decided to leave and have some lunch and maybe do some shopping until he was done. We had a nice last evening.
This morning we left for the airport at 6:30 am as they had an early flight to Newark and then to Halifax. Next time we meet will be in Sweden, Canada or elsewhere.
