Jag var på guidad tur på Guildhall idag, det byggdes under medeltiden. Då användes det som gilleshus och har senare blivit Lord Mayor of Londons hemvistelse. Under romartiden så låg här en amfibieteater och man kan se lite vart gränserna går bara genom att gå över gården och nere i källaren har man bevarat en del av utgrävningarna som visar hur det troligen såg ut vid denna tid.

Det är alltid spännande att se dessa gamla platser och inse hur mycket historia det finns och speciellt här har man många gånger valt att bibehålla en del av den historian (på gott och ont). Men det mest spännande var att det skulle vara ett möte (typ fullmäktige) där Lord Mayor of London skulle delta. Vi såg till att gå in och sätta oss för att få se denna procession som är lite pampigare än fullmäktigemöten i Sverige. I went on a guded tour at Guildhall today, it was built during the medieval time. It’s the place where Lord Mayor of London together with the ruling merchant class helped to create the wealth of London. During the Romans there were an amphitheatre and you can see the contours of if in the courtyard but also in the basement as the have an exhibition showing how it might have looked like.

It is always interesting to see these old places and realise how much history there is and especially here where they have chosen to keep a lot of the history. The most exiting happening this day was that there were going to be a meeting where the Lord Mayor of London took part (like a council meeting). We went inside to be able to the procession with the Lord Mayor entering, it’s a bit more important-looking and grand than when the chairman of the council enters in Sweden.
